Renfrew County Hosts Cultural Workshop

Cultural Partners Offer Free Advice and Funding Tips For Participants

Pembroke, ON: Culture gurus are coming to the Ottawa Valley! In response to an expressed demand for cultural tourism resources, a FREE educational conference has been planned for December 4, 2003. The Workshop is being held from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Ma-Te-Way Park in Renfrew. Visual artists, musicians & performing arts groups, poets & literary clubs, cultural associations, and tourism operators are invited to attend this day session to network & learn about the many resources offered to support cultural initiatives, and how to access funding.

“I am really excited about the potential growth of the cultural industry in Renfrew County…there are a lot of great ideas we need to develop,” said Diane McKinnon, Programs Consultant for the Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation. “The recent completion of the Roots and Rivers project proves that there is tremendous interest and enthusiasm in the cultural community, and we want to keep that rolling.”

Media Relations, County of Renfrew Partnerships between the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association, Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation, the Ontario Ministries of Citizenship & Immigration, Culture, and Tourism & Recreation, and the Town of Renfrew together with the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund and the Ontario Trillium Foundation have made this information session available at no cost.

There will also be speakers from the various provincial cultural and tourism organizations available to answer questions and assist individuals and organizations in the areas of marketing and promotion of their various businesses.
