Press Release Renfrew County's New Fall Brochure Highlights a Colourful Time in the Valley A new tourism brochure is putting the Ottawa Valley in the spotlight this fall. "We've had an amazing response," says Judy Hugli, tourism marketing coordinator for the Ottawa Vally Tourist Association (OVTA), the group that published the brochure. More than 20,000 copies of the flyer were printed, and stock is already running low. "We'll run out by the end of the week," predicts Hugli. "The demand is definitely high." Requests for the brochure have come from as far away as the Netherlands, after a person planning a trip to Canada visited the OVTA website, and Banff, Alberta, where interest has been expressed by an established tour operator. The Eaton Centre Travel Information Centre in Toronto called to request an additional 200 copies of the autumn promotion. The bulk of the copies were distributed with the Ottawa Citizen's travel section on September 7. "This is a great way to expand our tourism season," comments Bob Peltzer, OVTA President. "Our tourism operators have had a great summer, and we want to build on that success and show the world how wonderful it is to be here for the quiet, cool and colourful fall season." The costs of printing and distributing the brochure have been supported by 18 local business sponsors. Each of them has an advertisement in the publication, with many of them promoting special packages for fall. The publication also includes a bicycle tour through the Brudenell and Quadeville area and a driving tour along the Opeongo Line. "We're inviting people to enjoy the truly glorious pleasures of fall in Renfrew County," says Renfrew County Warden Bill Schweig. "By their keen response, I'd say there are a lot of people who are anxious to accept our invitation." OVTA staff have ensured that the promotion will continue, even after all of the brochures have been distributed. The brochure has been scanned and entered on the OVTA website, and all future requests will be referred there. To see the publication, or send it to a friend, log on to: www.ottawavalley.org.
