Rural Ramble - Bigger and Better Than Ever

Residents and visitors alike are invited to drop in on our rural neighbours during the Ottawa Valley's eighth annual Rural Ramble.

Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30 have been set aside for this year's fall tour.  "It's going to be bigger and better than ever," says Helen Giroux, Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) representative.

The OVTA organizes the Rural Ramble in conjunction with the Agricultural Leadership Advisory Committee. This year's ramble will feature nine new sites including Shaggy Shadows Bison Farm in Douglas, where visitors will be offered the opportunity to taste a bison burger, and Miravista Farms in Laurentian Valley, where children can find their way through a "Wizard of Oz" corn maze or explore the steps of bread-making from field to table. Llamas, cows, pigs, sheep, horses and goats will all be ready to meet and greet Ramble participants at other sites throughout the Renfrew County.

All of the Rural Ramble sites are designed to be interactive and entertaining for both young and old. Participants anywhere in the county will find themselves a half-hour or less away from a starting site. "Visitors can travel to as many sites as they like over the two days," says Giroux. "They can stop in for a quick tour, or they can stay for an extended visit."

Ramble buttons are available now for $5 and must be worn for entry at sites. The price includes a complimentary guide with a description of each location. Children twelve and under can ramble for free.
