Tourism Promotion Means More Business for Everyone

The Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) understands the power of a united voice. Through the association, members can pool their resources to attract more visitors to the region.

"We can't possibly reach the same audiences if we're each working on our own," comments Bob Peltzer, OVTA president. "Together, we can make a big splash and really make ourselves known."

The OVTA's primary marketing tool is the annual publication of a colourful, high-quality travel guide and map. "Next year, it will be better than ever," Peltzer promises. "We've been listening to feedback from OVTA members and their visitors, and we're working now to make the OVTA Travel Guide even more effective as our primary marketing tool."

Next year's guide will be available through the OVTA website – www.ottawavalley.org. Members' listings will be organized in easy-to-read charts, and the publication will include even more pictures and editorial content than previous issues. TWG Communications has been chosen as the designer of the new travel guide and map. The annual publication has a distribution of 110,000 and is circulated through visitor centres in Ontario, Quebec and the border states. It is also handed out at several consumer, travel trade and media shows during the year.

OVTA staff are booking advertising space now for the 2003 Travel Guide and Map. The deadline for purchasing ads is September 30, 2002. Local tourism-related businesses are invited to become OVTA members and be included in the 2003 Travel Guide listings. The fee is only $150.

Anyone interested in learning more is invited to contact Judy Hugli, Tourism Marketing Coordinator, OVTA, (613) 732-4364 or 1-800-757-6580.
