Happy Anniversary!

Several communities are celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2008. The City of Pembroke is celebrating its 150th anniversary of its founding, and the 180th anniversary of the first families settling in the area (www.pembroke.ca). Major festivities including a historical re-enactment will take place August 5 – 10 as part of the Pembroke Waterfront Festival. The Town of Renfrew (www.renfrewontario.com) celebrates 150 years and the Town of Killaloe (www.killaloe-haggarty-richards.ca) turns 100 and both will be celebrating with events all year long. It is the 150th Anniversary of the Canadian Kashub Culture with events being planned in the Polish community of Wilno (www.wilnovillager.on.ca)
