It is home to Canada’s best paddling schools.  Kayak, raft or canoe more than 10 spectacular whitewater rivers of the Ottawa Valley. Professional rafting companies also offer gentle rafting for families to experience the thrill of whitewater. We have rivers for all seasons and skill levels including the Ottawa, Madawaska, Bonnechere, Petawawa, Opeongo, Dumoine, Barron, Mattawa, Coulong, Noire, Papineau Creek, York, Grant’s Creek and more. Rivers flow from March to the end of November making for a long tourist season. The Ottawa River is recognized worldwide as one of the best whitewater destinations in the world and that is why in 2007, for the second time, it will be hosting the Whitewater World Freestyle Championships. It is also home to Ontario’s largest whitewater canoe and kayak festivals Palmer Fest held in Palmers Rapids. The Ottawa Valley is easily accessibly by car and within a day’s drive from the major urban centers of Southern Ontario, Ottawa/Gatineau and the North Eastern US.
