ONTARIO MARKET INVESTMENT FUND

Ontario is kicking its Pick Ontario Freshness strategy into high gear by partnering with agri-food industry groups and local food networks. The province is making a total of $12 million available over four years through the Ontario Market Investment Fund to help these groups promote consumer awareness of Ontario-produced foods and to encourage Ontarians to buy locally. Applications are now available on the ministry's website. The program will help develop opportunities through trade events, marketing campaigns and industry research initiatives that foster partnerships and collaboration to promote Ontario foods.

Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic alliances between individuals, businesses, producers, processors, community organizations, including not-for-profits, and/or municipalities
  • Agriculture and food industry associations in Ontario, including food retail and food service industry
  • Groups comprised of two or more partner organizations or businesses, including at least one food producer or processor.

Individuals or individual businesses are not eligible to apply as sole applicants.

The Ontario Market Investment Fund will support innovative market research, communications and/or marketing projects that encourage Ontarians to buy locally-produced foods. Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Market research
  • Development of market opportunities
  • Communication initiatives
  • Consumer or trade events

Information about the program and an application form that requires details on the need for the proposed project, its purpose, objectives, benefits and performance measurements is available on-line (http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/food/export/index.html), or by calling the Agricultural Information Contact Centre at 1-877-424-1300.

EASTERN ONTARIO DEVELOPMENT FUND

Businesses and Economic Developers of Eastern Ontario: do you have a great idea that will grow your business or your local economy? Ontario is creating a new fund to help grow the local economy and create jobs for people living in Eastern Ontario. The fund will provide $80 million, over four years, to help businesses create new jobs, and invest in new technologies, equipment or skills training for workers. It will also support economic development projects that will attract or retain investment in Ontario-based industries and communities.

Does your business have at least 10 employees and a great project idea, with an investment of $500,000 that will create new jobs in the next five years? The Eastern Ontario Development Fund is here to help by providing 15 per cent of project expenses for new technologies, new equipment, or skills training for employees that will drive your competitiveness and help your company grow.

Does your economic development office, business association or NGO have a project that will secure investment, enhance investment attraction and lead to job creation over the next five years? The Eastern Ontario Development Fund will invest up to 50 per cent for economic development projects valued at $100,000 or more.

RENFREW COUNTY REAL ESTATE BOARD GOLF TOURNAMENT

You are invited to the 5th Annual Renfrew County Real Estate Board Golf Tournament.  The tournament is being held Wednesday the 10th of September, 2008 at the Oaks of Cobden. There will be a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. You may enter a team or just sign yourself up and we will put you on a team.

Cost is:

  • Golf, Power cart, and Dinner   - $75.00
  • Golf and Power cart               - $60.00
  • Dinner only                           - $40.00

The proceeds from this year’s tournament will be donated to the Petawawa Legion to help with costs associated with replacing their roof. The Legion supports the local community but is unable to use the proceeds of their own fundraising due to their by-laws. They are in need of a $70,000 roof. To date $40,000, has been raised.

Last year the Renfrew County Real Estate Board REALTORS® raised $9,199.65 at their annual Golf Tournament. This money was donated to the Renfrew Hospice. We would be thrilled to raise more this year.

Our success in the past is due to the generosity of our sponsors. We are asking our hole sponsors to donate $100 - $199 for Bronze sponsorship $200 - $499 for Silver sponsorship and $500 and over for a Gold sponsorship (this includes a sign and your company name mentioned at the golf course dinner).

Please feel free to contact Sue Martin at the Renfrew County Real Estate Board at 613.735.5840 if you have any questions or are interested in sponsoring.
