VIC
STAFF FAM TOUR - JUNE 16
The
annual Visitor Information Centre
Staff FAM tour is scheduled to take
place June 24 - 27, 2008. This 3-day
tour, which will begin the afternoon
of June 24 and wrap-up by noon on
June 27, is designed to inform and
familiarize the visitor information
centre staff of the numerous attractions,
accommodations, dining, shopping
and tourism establishments found
in the Ottawa Valley.
This
year's tour will include stops in
Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke, Eganville,
Killaloe, Wilno, Barry's Bay, Madawaska,
Combermere, Palmer Rapids.
Members
interested in being a stop on the
tour and offering an experience
to staff (ie: tourism experience,
meal, tour of your business, etc.)
are asked to contact Melissa at

by MONDAY, JUNE 16.

BBQ - MEMBER SURVEY - JUNE 16
Members
are reminded to complete the BlackFly
BBQ survey by Monday, June 16.

survey can be accessed by clicking

will be discussed at the next Board
of Directors meeting on June 19.

CUSTOMER
SERVICE TRAINING - JUNE 20
The
OVTA will be holding a Customer
Service Training session on Tuesday,
June 24, from 9am to 1pm, at the
Granary Restaurant in Eganville.
The
training session, which is being
offered by Enterprise Renfrew County
and the Buy Local initiative, will
be delivered by Chris Hinsperger,
co-owner of the Bonnechere Caves.
Some of the things participants
will learn at the session include:
the 7 Steps to effective customer
problem solving; dealing with difficult
customers and challenges; the recovery
process, and more.
OVTA
members and their staff are welcome
to attend the training session.
The cost to attend is $30/person,
which includes materials and lunch.

the training session must RSVP with
Melissa at mjohnston@countyofrenfrew.on.ca by
FRIDAY, JUNE 20.

ADVENTURES IN THE OTTAWA VALLEY

OVTA will be producing a fall publication
to highlight the Ottawa Valley as
a fall touring destination and increase
fall season tourism activity. The
publication - Autumn Adventures
in the Ottawa Valley - will include
driving, motorcycle, bicycle and
paddle routes, packages, a calendar
of events, as well as the Rural
Ramble event guide.
