REVISED
GST REBATE PROGRAM - UPDATE FROM
NOTO
The
NOTO Border Issues Committee continues
to meet and to investigate the issues
affecting our industry surrounding
the US/Canadian border crossing.
The
committee is currently reviewing
the possibility of developing and
printing a brochure that will include
concise and accurate information
about border crossing procedures
to assist potential guests with
criminal records. It is the intent
of this committee that this brochure
will be distributed at sport shows,
through tourism organizations, and
to the guests directly through individual
tourism operations. NWOTA, KDCA
and NOTO will be distributors of
these brochures and the information
will also be made available on web
sites.
The
committee will also be requesting
the support of the Federal Government
in providing CBSA and CIC agents
to help staff a booth with tourism
industry representatives at a number
of US sport shows to assist us in
bringing accurate information to
potential travellers to Canada.
In
the committee's effort to gather
accurate and complete information,
it will be reviewing current methods
being used to gather data and assist
in spreading the message and standardizing
a form that can be used in all parts
of the province.
We
encourage all operators to have
their guests report any positive
or negative situations they encounter
as they cross our border. It is
important that we need to verify
how they were treated and what the
precise issue was.
We
would like to thank those of you
who provided comment on our last
notice and would like to encourage
any operators to provide feedback
directly to the Committee through
the NOTO office via email at laurie@noto.net,
or by fax at 705-472-0621.
