Fishing in the Ottawa Valley

The sun inches over the horizon.  Mist dances over the shimmering surface of a tree-lined lake.  Silence is shattered as the water erupts at the end of a taut line.  Another fishing day has begun in the Ottawa Valley (Renfrew County)..

Embracing the Ottawa, Madawaska and Bonnechere Valleys, the Ottawa Valley covers and area of over 3,000 square miles between the mighty Ottawa River and the wilderness of Algonquin Park.  The Valley boasts 158,000 acres of water filled with more than 20 species of fish.  This fishing paradise, until recently, known only to local sportsmen, is within a day's drive of major centres in Ontario, Quebec and the northeastern United States.

Whether your taste compels you to search out the explosive bass, succulent walleye, or seeks a showdown, which only the northern pike and muskellunge can provide, Ottawa Valley gives anglers the chance to net a trophy fish.

Whether you prefer casting from shore, trolling from an open boat, jigging on the open ice, or sharing an ice-fishing experience with a freind, fishing in the Valley will bring you back year after year to enjoy its uncrowded waters, any season you choose.
