Pembroke,

Harrowsmith
Country
Magazine,
one
of
Canada’s
leading
lifestyle
magazines,
selected
The
Ottawa
Valley
in
the
top
ten
of
its
ideal
rural
locations
to
live.
The
April
2004
edition
featured
its
annual
tribute
to
“ten
of
the
prettiest
places
you
might
want
to
call
home."The
magazine
based
its
rankings
on
cost
of
living,
greenspace,
quality
of
life,
and
historical
traditions.
The
high
ranking
did,
not
surprise
Judy
Hugli,
Tourism
Marketing
Coordinator
for
the
Ottawa
Valley
Tourist
Association.
“For
years,
our
association
has
been
telling
Canadians
from
all
walks
of
life
that
the
Ottawa
Valley,
and
especially
the
County
of
Renfrew,
is
an
ideal
place
to
visit
and
to
live.
Not
only
can
a
family
enjoy
the
tremendous
nature
adventures
available
throughout
the
county,
but
many
former
residents
are
returning
from
big
cities
to
retire
and
reunite
with
one
of
the
prettiest
rural
settings
in
Canada."
County
of
Renfrew
Warden
Bob
Sweet
enthusiastically
supported
the
survey
results.
“I
have
always
said
that
Renfrew
County
is
a
beautiful
place
to
live,
and
an
incredible
place
to
visit,
reside,
or
set
up
a
place
of
business.
The
opportunities
within
our
community
are
endless.
I
believe
this
current
magazine
survey
will
help
draw
national
attention
to
one
of
Canada’s
best
places
to
enjoy
an
unmatched
quality
of
life.
Our
area
is
constantly
attracting
individuals
and
families
looking
to
leave
the
hustle
and
bustle
of
large
urban
centres
and
move
to
an
attractive
and
affordable
place
to
live."
The
County
of
Renfrew
is
home
to
over
900
fresh
water
lakes
and
4
major
rivers
within
its
boundaries.
In
addition
to
its
year
round
tourist
destinations
and
business
opportunities,
the
County
of
Renfrew
is
only
45
minutes
from
Ottawa,
and
is
the
largest
county
in
Ontario.
